Jan 02, 2026

, Press Release

ART:DIS (Arts & Disability) Singapore is proud to present three highlights at Singapore Art Week (SAW) 2026 with its artists at Turning Points III, Light to Night Singapore and Next Stop: Together!, enabling audiences of all backgrounds to encounter arts in everyday spaces.

Turning Points III

The third and final annual edition of the Turning Points exhibition features artists Aaron Yap, Chong Yao Qing, Hugh Lee, Kenji Teo and Zack Ling at The Arts House.

They will present works that capture pivotal moments of artistic transformation and turning points in reinventing their practice. Spanning different media, the exhibition offers a tapestry of resilience, adaptability, and introspection, inviting audiences to witness the creativity and complexity of change in an artist’s journey.

In this exhibition, Yap will show clay animal figurines, Chong will pay homage to his mother’s recipes in still-life studies, Lee will present an abstract and architectural series of paintings, Teo will present anime-inspired artworks and Ling will show a series of functional ceramic wares. These are the output from a year of mentorships with mentor artists in the respective pairings – Yap with Lewis Choo, Chong with Mary Bernadette Lee, Lee with Joshua Yang, Teo with Tristan Lim, and Ling with Kim Whye Lee.

Artist Ling says, “I really enjoy the conversations with my mentor [Kim Whye]. In the process, I learn new techniques to achieve a more natural curve and improve my clay-making skills through practice.”

Artist mentor Lim says, “Observing Kenji over time, I could see him steadily grow more assured and confident in the narrative and aesthetic merit of the works he was producing.” He adds about Turning Points as a whole: “I hope that initiatives like this will serve as a catalyst, encouraging artists from all walks of life to be more courageous and take a step forward to showcase their work and talents, regardless of the challenges they may face. Such diversity will be crucial for enriching the cultural landscape.”

Angela Tan, Executive Director of ART:DIS, says, “Across the three editions of Turning Points, we have seen that the exhibition is not simply the culmination of a mentorship programme, but the beginning of new opportunities. Several artists from earlier editions have since taken on commissioned work or contributed to other creative projects, pointing to emerging shifts in how disabled artists are finding space to extend and develop their practice.

Turning Points I and Turning Points II took place in 2023 and 2024 respectively, featuring three artists, namely Isabelle Lim, Fern Wong and Kenneth Lee, then four artists, namely Abraham Koh, Amelia Tan, Noah Tan, and Zulkhairi Lutfi. Turning Points III is the most ambitious edition, with five participating artists.

Light to Night Singapore

Light to Night Singapore, organised by National Gallery Singapore, marks its 10th anniversary next year, and will be live across four weekends from 9 to 31 January 2026. Themed The Power in Us, it explores the profound connections forged when people and communities unite through art to reflect, converse and create.

Flower Power by Noah Tan will be animated and projected on the façade of Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall. Just last year, Tan participated in Turning Points II at The Arts House in the same vicinity, and his participation in the festival showcases the next milestone in his growing artistic practice. The collaborative work is co-created with Dr Azariah Tan, a hard-of-hearing classical pianist and pedagogue. Dr Tan will create a new piano score in response to the artwork, creating an immersive audiovisual experience for festival-goers.

Next Stop: Together!

Presented in partnership with NAC, LTA, SMRT Buses and ART:DIS, the landmark SAW project comprises 8 large-scale MRT station commissions and a travelling Art Bus.

The project is grounded in the question: “What does it mean to arrive together?” Curator John Tung states, “Transportation is, at its core, about access, and about connecting people to places, possibilities, and one another. This exhibition extends that principle into the cultural realm, championing accessibility not only in physical terms but also as an ethos of inclusion. Here, access is understood as an invitation: to touch, to see, to hear, to feel, and above all, to belong.”

Low Eng Teong, Chief Executive Officer at NAC, says, “NAC’s partnership with LTA, SMRT Buses and ART:DIS represents a bold step in transforming Singapore into a living canvas and gallery. By weaving art into the very fabric of our public transport, we enrich the daily rhythms of our people. This partnership extends the spirit of Singapore Art Week beyond gallery walls, ensuring that art is a shared and accessible experience, defining how we work, live, and play together!”

The MRT station commissions will introduce monumental, site-specific works that offer moments of colour and reflection within the flow of daily commutes. Happening from January to February 2026 across 8 stations, there are 4 solo and 4 collaborative artwork commissions:

  • Chawaphon Phungnoi presents a personal way of seeing urban spaces through a lens of map-like paintings at Raffles Place MRT station
  • Christian Tan, the UOL X ART:DIS Art Prize 2025 Grand Winner, presents a series of linocuts that promote rest at HarbourFront MRT station
  • Kenneth Lee presents a playful line drawing that amalgamates everyday observations and imagination at Newton MRT station
  • Raymond Lau presents a tribute to the lively bustle of the ethnic enclave at Little India MRT station
  • Eugene Soh and Yeo Shih Yun present an energetic mark-making exercise created via wheels at Tampines MRT station
  • Joel Keong and Mit Jai Inn present a radiant composition of bold chromatic blocks and textured atmospheric layers at Dhoby Ghaut MRT station
  • Isabelle Lim and Toni Cuhadi present a photographic study of everyday people’s daily commute at Bugis MRT station
  • Lee Jun Le and parents Bob Lee and Lim Hwee Hwee (樂樂体)present a family portrait of tenderness and courage through calligraphy and photos at Outram Park MRT station

The travelling Art Bus commissions will present environments where artworks are encountered through touch, movement, sound, and play. From 22 to 31 January 2026, making a total of 25 stops across 13 districts, the Art Bus draws on a wide range of artistic practices to engage multiple senses, offering points of entry for different modes of perception:

  • Calvin Pang presents mixed-media installations, blending braille and haikus for a tactile experience
  • Chng Seok Tin’s existing art prints are transformed into tactile touchpoints
  • Hong Shu Ying presents an interactive sound-based work that encourages co-creation of shifting harmonies
  • Isabelle Lim presents a non-verbal photo studio that pops up at every bus stop, welcoming commuters into her silent world through the intimate act of portrait photography
  • Twardzik Ching Chor Leng presents a gamified work that invites commuters to pull-and-listen, transporting them to a collective memory of the
  • Victor Tan presents wire sculptures with empty faces that prompt selfie moments
  • Vincent Twardzik Ching presents illustrations that celebrate often-overlooked biodiversity in Singapore

The Art Bus fosters hands-on interaction at the community level, while the works at the MRT stations deliver lasting impact through large-scale public visibility. Tung elaborates, “These interventions reveal that togetherness is not a final station but the very spirit of movement that enriches both journey and traveller. They show how accessibility extends beyond physical access to embrace the joyful work of making space for one another, creating conditions where difference becomes not an obstacle but a gift, where diversity sparks new forms of connection and understanding.”

In the spirit of togetherness, complementing Next Stop: Together! is a series of public programmes. These hands-on encounters include badge-making, frottage, linocut printing, sticker customization and ride-and-walk tours.
