ART:DIS’s new centre is located within the Bukit Merah neighbourhood and enables persons with disabilities to showcase their artistic creations. It has a 32-seater Black Box, a community space to host workshops and a recording studio. Peter Sau, Head of Artistic Development & Performing Arts at ART:DIS, shares more: “We hope to provide more learning and training opportunities for persons with disabilities, and to broaden accessibility in the arts so that more can experience it. Singapore is working towards greater inclusivity in society and ART:DIS is proud to be part of this movement.”

Beyond professional development, ART:DIS also offers foundation classes for persons with disabilities to explore their interests in the arts. “We have a broad-based curriculum that covers numerous art forms in the visual and performing arts. Some new programmes offered include Digital Illustration and Stop-Motion Animation, and these enable students to keep up to pace with the digital economy,” added Peter.

ART:DIS @ Bukit Merah is the organisation’s third centre, catering to persons with disabilities in the west. Its other two centres are at Bedok and Changi.
