UOL Group Limited (UOL) and ART:DIS (Arts & Disability) Singapore have launched the second edition of the UOL X ART:DIS Art Prize, Singapore’s first comprehensive art prize that recognise all stages of artistic practice by artists with disabilities. The competition platform builds on the success of the inaugural launch in May 2023, recognising talented artists with disabilities and providing them with opportunities to deepen their artistic practice, gain public recognition and expand market exposure.
To better reflect UOL and ART:DIS’ shared commitment to inclusivity, empowerment and community engagement through the arts, the art prize broadens its focus this year and is now open to all artists with disabilities in Singapore. This year’s competition offers a total prize pool of $52,000, with the grand prize winner receiving $20,000 and the opportunity to hold a solo exhibition, further elevating their profile.
Besides the top prize, other awards include $8,000 for the first runner-up and $5,000 for the second runner-up. Special awards will also be given to outstanding entries in the following categories – Senior (60 years and above); Youth (13-18 years); Child (6-12 years), along with recognition for highly commended artists. All winners will also receive a one-year scholarship for art classes of their choice at ART:DIS.
UOL Group Chief Executive Liam Wee Sin said: “At UOL, we see art as a meaningful way to inspire creativity, encourage self-expression, and strengthen community bonds. Building on the success of the inaugural UOL X ART:DIS Art Prize, we hope to open more avenues for artists with disabilities to be seen, celebrated and supported across society. Through this collaboration with ART:DIS, we aim to foster a more inclusive and compassionate culture that uplifts artists with disabilities and allows their talent to shine.”
Executive Director of ART:DIS Angela Tan said: “We are encouraged by the growing momentum of support for Artists with Disabilities in Singapore as unlike in sports, we lack dedicated recognition platforms and established talent pathways in the arts. We hope the UOL-ART:DIS Art Prize will serve as a catalyst to elevate the visibility of these exceptional artists and create new opportunities to advance their professional careers.”
All shortlisted entries will be showcased in a public exhibition at ION Art Gallery from 3 to 14 September 2025. Following the main exhibition, selected works will travel to multiple UOL-owned properties and libraries across Singapore as part of a roving exhibition, including United Square, KINEX, Velocity, PARKROYAL Beach Road, and Punggol Regional Library.
The UOL X ART:DIS Art Prize continues to serve as a springboard for artists with disabilities, enabling them to gain professional development opportunities, reach new audiences, and inspire others through their work.
The inaugural edition’s grand prize winner, Fern Wong, not only went on to stage a retrospective solo exhibition that showcased over 30 works from her two-decades long practice, but she will also be featured in the National Gallery Singapore’s upcoming Children’s Biennale, where children can interact with a large-scale artwork that is inspired by her intricate paper-cut artworks. Other winners such as Noah Tan and Abraham Koh have went on to receive mentorship opportunities from professional artists Leo Liu and Tang Ling-Nah respectively, debuting new works that pushed the boundaries of their practice in a group exhibition during Singapore Art Week 2025.
Submissions for the UOL X ART:DIS Art Prize 2025 are now open and will close on 28 July.
