20 Artists-In-Training of ART:DIS will showcase 44 paintings in a group exhibition titled Parallel Retrospection. Ranging from bold acrylic paintings to precise line drawings with marker pens and soft sceneries with pencils, the artworks demonstrate their improvement in conceptualisation and artistry following a year of home-based lessons. Despite the isolation and the uncertainty of the pandemic, our young artists were still able to find a silver lining in adversity. By recounting happier moments with loved ones or awaiting the lifting of safety measures to resume one’s favourite activities, they drew and painted in anticipation of a brighter future.

Parallel Retrospection thus brims with positivity and it is our artists’ wish that the audience will find joy and relief in the things they enjoy doing even amidst the pandemic, just as our artists did through art-making. As our young artists journey together towards professionalism, each shines with their own unique perspective and we welcome you to witness their growth in this exhibition.
